Penda: Sweetmeat people prefer to eat. A spiral flat shaped sweet is made from milk solid (khoya) as base ingredient. It differs in color, depending upon its added ingredient. It is normally offered as offering (Prasad) in temples or family rituals and celebrations.

Kaju Katli: Kaju Katli or cashew fudge, as the name suggests is made from cashew nut, as its main ingredient. It is similar to fudge. There are various ways to make cashew fudge. Cashew fudges differ in taste, depending upon its subordinate ingredient.


Halwasen: Halwasen is another sweet Gujju foodies love to feast on! It is made from fresh cottage cheese, and hence a very source calcium. It’s very famous in Khambat, Gujarat and also one of the favorite sweet meas.
Suterfeni: Suterfeni comes in two types sweet or unsweetened. Suterfeni is made from rice dough, and thread like thin noodles spun together. Its spiral in shape and is decorated with pistachio or any other dry fruits.
Dry fruits sweets: As the name suggests, dry fruits are added to the base ingredients. They come in various shapes and sizes and also differ in taste too.

Sugarless Sweets: Surprised? Sweets without sugar are impossible to imagine, right? But yes, you read it right, sugarless sweets are very much available these days as people are becoming health conscious and good for diabetics too. Let’s call it sugar free sweets. Instead of sugar other sweetening agent is used here to make sweets. It tastes sweet like sugar but has zero sugar in it.

Chikki: Traditional Indian sweet that is made from ground nut and jaggery. This sweet block differs in taste depending upon other added ingredients used. It is square in shape and comes in different textures.
Ghari: Ghari is basically sweet bite from Surat, Gujarat. It is made from fried golden bread batter mixed with milk solid (khoya), clarified butter and sugar. It is round in shape filled with sweet ingredient into it.
Kesar/ badam/ Pista Mithai: The sweets made from almond, pistachios or saffron is also loved here. People carve for these kinds of sweets too. They come in various shapes, sizes and tastes too. One may find numerous kinds of sweets made from the above items. They come into the category of dry fruits sweets.
